WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF THE PROGRAM
THIS COURSE OFFERS STRATEGIES THAT ARE ROOTED IN THERAPEUTIC RESEARCH THAT PARTICIPANTS CAN PRACTICE FROM HOME.
Aristotle called courage the first virtue, because it makes all of the other virtues possible.
If we are honest, most of us can use a therapist. For some members of our community, there are real barriers to accessing or seeking out clinical or therapeutic help. Whether you are grappling with past or present traumas or undergoing a major life transition, this course is designed to give you practical skills that you can use to help build resilience and foster courage. This course is also incredibly effective for individuals preparing to engage with a therapist. Each session is designed to engage participants in some element of practice-whether it is mindfulness practice or therapeutic writing.
Research shows that courage is strongly linked to resilience and as a critical characteristic for overcoming trauma-related stress.
Specifically, research identifies courage as a critical characteristic for overcoming trauma-related stress as well as developing problem-solving coping strategies, socially supportive interactions, as well as self-care habits after potentially debilitating life experiences. Because courage is necessary for developing resilience in the face of hardship, it is important to understand what aspects of courageous action lead to this resilience.
By the end of this 10-session course, you will have the foundational skills necessary for addressing life’s challenges. This course is all about identifying courageous actions through mindful practice, therapeutic writing, volunteerism, and community accountability.
Lets be blunt and honest; this world is not created for mothers, let alone single mothers.
My name is Mireya Fouche, I am a founder/executive director of an NPO serving our homeless community, helped start and co-manage an NPO thrift store helping to reduce recidivism, a published writer, a consultant, a creative and a single mother to a beautiful toddler. There were many moments in my journey where I wanted to take a step back — back from writing, back from creating, back from serving, back from growing. What I learned from and through David is that that was okay. It was okay to put myself first, to take that trip, to be bold with those proposals and visions because of the calling on my life.
David knew what the impact of taking a trip to reset my soul would bring; it brought forth clarity, understanding and new insights. David always emphasized the importance of holding the term “single mother” loosely because that was not my “brand” but my story.
When Hope Is launched via social media I stayed connected because those daily tidbit reminders encouraged me in my journey. They are reminders that I, that WE, are not alone.
When I hear the words hope and self-care, the voice of David D. Robertson comes to mind. The hope in our story continues and that is why the importance of self-care is key. Invest in your health, invest in your moments invest in David D. Robertson and watch things around you align.
